3 Things All Affiliate Marketers Need To Survive Online

There are 3 things (I prefer to call them attributes) that every newbie affiliate marketer needs to have for internet success.  They go beyond just the basic and obvious things like:

1. Using a different website or blog to promote each offer or product you wish to profit from. Lumping together your relationship products for instance, along with your golf accessories on one web page just to save money on domain names is just plain silly.  It is better and more lucrative to have each site dedicated to a separate niche or micro-niche (I will devote an entire article to finding and profiting from micro-niches).  Also, make healthy use of product reviews and testimonials but be careful to avoid overkill.

2. In addition to making sure your using an attractive (keyword-based) headline, make sure that it is consistent with the content on the page itself.  You do not want your visitor to leave your page as soon as they get there.

3.  Offer free treats to your website traffic! You can offer a set of  videos that will help them solve a problem or inform them of something they should be a part of.  You can offer a free Kindle book that has your affiliate links in it. Another example is to give free coupons, trial or free membership to your club or free music.  Everyone likes to get gifts. Just make sure that the gifts you are giving are relevant, effective and will sooth a need or help solve a problem of your website visitors.

Personally, I have been studying internet marketing for the past 8 years. Of those years, I have been actively applying all that I have learned (and continue to learn) for only 3 years. I was always told that the rule of thumb is to write at least 2 articles per week for the potential of having a few hundred visitors to a product or website.  That was just not good enough for me because I knew I could do more.  I prefer to publish 2-5 articles per day, 6 days per week. Of course, I always tell my affiliate marketing students to do the best they can.

Why do I push myself to write and promote so much?
Well supposedly, only 1 out of 100 visitors will appreciate and buy your product or service.  That is why I should likely have higher conversions if I have 30 sites or articles getting traffic instead of just 2 from a week's worth of work.

There are tactics that have worked before with online marketing and is continuing to work in the online affiliate marketing world of today. With these top three marketing tips, you will be able to able to increase your sales and survive in the affiliate marketing online.

What are these three tactics?

Ok so now that we got the kindergarten affiliate marketing 101 stuff out of the way, lets discuss the 3 things that you really need to survive online. Why must you have these? Well let's just say that if you do not have these next three attributes, it doesn't matter how well you have mastered the above techniques... you will fail miserably.

  • Keyword Research - must be at the forefront of your campaigns big or small.  If you skip the keyword research after picking out your target market and audience, you have just placed your cart before your horse.  Figure out what people in your niche are searching for. Search for long tail keywords as they have a tendency to be the terms your buyer is looking for.
Example: "buy discount Xbox 360" - if someone types that into a Google search, are they looking to buy? Of course!
  • Creativity - You must think outside of the box.  Pay attention to the news, health care, diseases, animals, environmental issues, hot political issues, and everything going on in our world. Why? Everything you learn, and all of the problems in this world can be mean money in your pocket.
Example: You hear on the news that there is a recall for spinach in Texas due to E.coli.  You think this might be a good time throw up a blog featuring a gorgeous plant-like template, monetize it with Adsense and plenty of articles about the benefits of organic produce? Sure is!! Then you grab a CPA banner from your favorite affiliate network and add it to the top of your page.  It might offer surveys, or free samples of organic products.  Add your Amazon widgets that will feature books that complement your content. Voila!! You are ready for traffic and money!! Make sure you did your keyword research first.

Last But Not Least: (This is the most important and is a double-edged sword)

  • Keep up with affiliate marketing news and traffic generation practices and track your conversions carefully Traffic is the lifeblood of any website or business. Just because you managed to get good traffic in the social networks doesn't mean you should not learn other methods to beef up your arsenal. You should want to apply multiple traffic generation techniques and master the art of figuring out what is working for you and what is wasting your time.  Once you get the hang of it and you are snug in your daily marketing routine... you should begin to split test your websites, banners, PPC ads and other measurable factors that affect your income.

Well that is my little 2 cents for now.  I know that if you are new to internet marketing, this article might not speak to your level of understanding.  My next few post will slow things down a bit.
